Special screening of ‘Jungle Book’
Lake 8 Movies in downtown Barberton has begun offering sensory-friendly showings of movies, aimed at children who have autism or other special needs. The volume is turned down, it’s not completely dark in the theater and the film is shown with open captions. This week’s offering is The Jungle Book at 5 p.m. and admission is $6. Taste of Home stops in Falls
The Taste of Home Cooking School tour makes a stop in the Cuyahoga Falls High School Auditorium. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the pre-show Vendor Fair with the cooking school starting at 7 p.m. The magazine’s culinary specialist, Jamie Dunn, will offer tips and tricks while demonstrating step-by-step recipes. Attendees get a gift bag of goodies. Tickets are $14 at the door. The school is at 230 Fourth St. in Cuyahoga Falls.
Emily Dickinson set to music
Tuesday Musical will host pianist and composer Gregg Kallor and mezzo-soprano Adriana Zabala, performing Kallor’s song-settings of poems by Emily Dickinson, William Butler Yeats and more, with a touch of jazz. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. at E.J. Thomas Hall, 198 Hill St., University of Akron. Tickets are $25-$45, free for students through a voucher program at www.tuesdaymusical.org, 330-761-3460, and at the door as long as they last.
