Ale, ale ... the gang’s all here
Today is Record Store Day, a chance to support your local vinyl shop and pick up some musical rarities. See our story in today’s Community section for a rundown on what’s available. Hoppin’ Frog owner and brewmaster Fred Karm will be spinning records in honor of RSD and the release of his newest beer, El Frogquistador, starting at 11 a.m. at the brewery, 1680 E. Waterloo Road, Akron. The ale is aged for nine months in Spanish brandy barrels, is light in color and body, and features creamy vanilla and apple characteristics. A 22-ounce bottle will sell for $19.99, and there is a two-case limit.
It’s ‘Pet Palooza’ in Brunswick
The Brunswick Library, 3649 Center Road, holds “Pet Palooza” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with animal shows including raptors and reptiles (please don’t bring your own pets, the organizers warn), face painting, a hot dog truck and more. The “No Muffin Left Behind Sale” by Main Street Gourmet to assist the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank runs from 9 a.m. to noon. Akron Symphony presents Sounds of Akron at E.J. Thomas Hall, 198 Hill St., University of Akron.
