AKRON: The National Weather Service in Cleveland has lifted the afternoon winter weather advisory for Akron and all of Northeast Ohio.
By 1 p.m. Saturday, the sun was shining in downtown Akron, where most of the streets and sidewalks were dry.
Overnight, up to seven inches of snow fell across the northeast corner of the state, with parts of Summit and Portage counties getting the brunt of the winter leftovers, according to local meteorologists.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office early Saturday morning also issued a travel advisory warning drivers that blowing snow there was making travel hazardous.
But with afternoon temperatures creeping up to 33 degrees and salt trucks deployed, any roadway problems created by the snow quickly melted.
Temperatures Saturday night are forecast to plummet to 18 degrees and there’s more snow in Sunday’s forecast, but no accumulation is expected with temperatures climbing back into the 40s, the National Weather Service said.
And if you’re looking for warmer weather, hold on until next Saturday, where early forecasts show spring roaring back with temperatures reaching 68 degrees.
