INDEPENDENCE: J.R. Smith and Kyrie Irving both missed shootaround and are considered questionable for Thursday’s home game against the Brooklyn Nets. The Cavs said both players are ill.
Irving addressed his personal life late Wednesday night on social media. In a series of tweets, Irving said he was not dating R&B singer Kehlani when her ex-boyfriend posted pictures of her lying in his bed to social media. Kehlani later posted an image of herself lying in a hospital bed and inferred she tried to kill herself over the entire incident.
“It's been hard to see what's been going on and not address the truth. I do not justify the picture or what dude did to try and spark all of this non sense that could have been avoided, but me and Kehlani were not dating when the picture came out,” Irving wrote. “It’s unfortunate that it’s received so much attention but its (sic) become bigger because of a post that was misunderstood.”
Irving also expressed his concern for Kehlani’s well being.
“Nothing but love and compassion over this way for her and her family,” he wrote. "My only focus (is on) the Game I love to play every night.”
Irving later deleted the tweets off his Twitter account, although they’re still posted to his Facebook account.
“He’s got my support,” LeBron James told reporters Thursday in regards to Irving’s situation. “And he knows it.”
