Wayne County authorities have identified a man who was found dead Sunday in a wooded area just outside Doylestown.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department on Monday afternoon identified the victim as Jeremy Dean Lesh, a 44-year-old from Perry Township. He was reported missing by his family on Saturday after he had not been seen since Christmas.
Authorities told Fox8.com that Lesh apparently died of a “brutal attack.”
His body was discovered in a wooded area by a woman walking her dog near Clinton Road at 4:30 p.m. The Doylestown woman who found the body told WEWS (Channel 5) that someone apparently tried to hide it by putting leaves and a dead tree over it.
After the body was discovered, there was speculation that it could be missing Lafayette Township trustee Bryon Macron, who disappeared Dec. 16. Blood was found in his township office and his vehicle, which was located on Beachside Drive in Chippewa Lake.
Investigators didn’t release details about Lesh’s death but say the case clearly isn’t an overdose or natural death. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Wayne County coroner are assisting in the investigation.
