The Akron man accused of the Nov. 30 shooting deaths of two people in Portage County was placed on a $6 million cash bond Thursday.

David Darnell Calhoun Jr., 25, was arraigned in Portage County Common Pleas Court on nine charges including aggravated murder, murder and having a weapon while under disability.

Calhoun is charged with the shooting deaths of Sara Marsh, 32, of Kent, who was six to 10 weeks pregnant and Leshaun Sanders, 33, of Ravenna Township, her ex-boyfriend.

Calhoun eluded police for 5½ weeks before he was captured early Saturday morning hiding in an upstairs bedroom closet in a vacant house in Steubenville.

Authorities said he was on parole from a Summit County prison sentence and should not have had a firearm. Calhoun was sentenced in 2010 on robbery and burglary charges and was released in March of 2015.

He remains in the Portage County Jail.
