owntown Akron’s Quaker Square — a draw for its boutiques and dining in its heyday before being acquired by the University of Akron — is abuzz once again with holiday shoppers this weekend.
The Heartfelt Holiday Pop Up Shop, sponsored by Global Ties Akron, kicked off Friday with 15 booths featuring locally and globally handcrafted items — such as metal and pottery art and jewelry terrariums — that are made using recycled materials.
Alongside the shop, UA began its traditional tag sale, offering items including antiques, furniture, space heaters, holiday decorations, hardware, electronics and light fixtures.
The tag sale resumes Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The pop-up event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
