A Kent State University student was arrested early Saturday morning after a woman said he broke into her home and implied he wanted to take her granddaughter.

Aaron Jacobs, 21, who Kent police said was intoxicated, is charged with burglary. Police said in a news release they are not investigating the incident as an attempted abduction. Lt. Mike Lewis told WOIO (Channel 19) in Cleveland that Jacobs’ drunken “mutterings” were “unsettling” but weren’t enough to suggest he actually intended to kidnap the girl.

The homeowner took to Facebook during and after the incident. She said Jacobs came in at about 1 a.m. through a back door, which she had locked before bed, and drunkenly pointed at her granddaughter.

“I am here for my little friend,” he allegedly said about the girl. Police did not give an age for child.

The woman’s dog began barking, and she said she warned the man she was trained in martial arts and ordered him to sit down at the kitchen table. Police said Jacobs, who was a stranger, followed orders and sat there calmly while she called police. No one was injured in the incident.

The woman’s Facebook posts, which show a man being arrested inside her home, have been shared hundreds of times.
