*** First up, from 6 to 9 p.m. THIS EVENING -- Monday, Nov. 14 -- at Regency wine store and bar in Fairlawn, you can taste five high-end wines from the small Andrew Geoffrey Vineyards, considered among the finest wineries in Napa Valley, Calif.
Each of the cabernet sauvignon vintages — 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012 runs $84.99 a bottle.
Cost of the tasting is $25 plus tax and tip.

*** Tomorrow -- Tuesday, Nov. 15 -- you can learn how to make nutrient-dense smoothies at the Northwest Akron Branch Library. Beginning at 6 p.m., Mustard Seed Market & Cafe’s Abraham Nabors will demonstrate how to incorporate “superfoods” such as kale, chia seeds and acai berries into smoothies.

***This Sunday, Nov. 20, Trattoria Vaccaro in Bath Township is offering its first-ever Holiday Wine Tasting Extravaganza, featuring 100 wines, live jazz and what owner Raphael Vaccaro is calling a “champagne and prosecco table” for just $30.
The festivities will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the eatery at 1000 Ghent Road, just off Interstate 77.
Patrons will be able to sample wines and order bottles for the holidays, as well as fill up on some of Vaccaro’s appetizer’s . He told me late last week the spread likely will include make meatball sliders, steak crostini and arancini balls — Sicilian stuffed rice balls and cheeses.
“You’ll get a full meal out of this,” he assured.
He’s been working with 10 small wine distributors to come up with the 100 wines that will be available for sampling.
Wines that patrons order will be available for pick up at the restaurant before Thanksgiving. Vaccaro said he figured that with West Point’s replacement store not yet open there would a demand for such a wine-tasting and ordering event.
About a third of the wines at the tasting will be among those on the restaurant’s extensive wine list.
Vaccaro said the tasting also will serve as a way for him to try wines that he may want to add to the list

***The Galaxy Restaurant in Wadsworth will host its Premier Holiday Wine Festival featuring more than 100 wines from 7 to 10 p.m. Nov. 26.
Along with the wine, there will be hor d’oeuvres stations (“a wine/food tasting pleasure process, if you will!” Galaxy says), along with live music from 7 to 10 p.m., cooking demonstrations, a blind tasting table and silent auction to benefit the Salvation Army.
Proceeds from the auction will feature large bottle formats of wines. All wines in the tasting will be available for sale.

***3 Point, 45 E. Market St. in downtown Akron, will host a South American Wine Dinner at 4 p.m. Nov. 28. Five courses will be paired with wines, and the menu is now available.
Chef Josh Pere and sous chef Melania Beeman have come up with these courses: Chilean sea bass and scallop ceviche; chicken chili verda with corn tortilla strips; roasted pork shoulder and poblano tamales, cilantro chimichurri lamb chops asada with grilled asparagus and tomatoes; and creme caramel flan.

***On Dec. 7, Regency wine store and bar in Fairlawn will host its annual Champagne Tasting. Cost is $50, plus tax and tip. Appetizers included.
This year, a tasting of high-end reds will be available at the same time for an additional charge.
