Bam! Smash! It’s Akron Comicon

The fifth annual Akron Comicon is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron. The event celebrates newspaper comics and comic books and brings together creators, dealers and fans. There are panel presentations, workshops and a costume contest. Tickets are $15 for one day or $25 for both days. http://Akroncomicon.com.

No Muffin Left Behind

Stock up on baked goods and do some good, too, at the Main Street Gourmet’s No Muffin Left Behind sale from 9 a.m. to noon at the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank, 350 Opportunity Parkway. It features overstock frozen bakery products including cookie dough, muffins and brownies for $1.25 a pound. A portion of the proceeds and all unsold product will benefit the Foodbank. http://mainstreetgourmet.com.

Buckeye Book Fair in Wooster

Get a start on your winter reading and holiday shopping as the Buckeye Book Fair brings together around 100 authors and illustrators from around the state signing their works. There will also be speakers and other activities. Admission is only $2 for all this literary goodness. It runs from 9:30 to 4 p.m. at Fisher Auditorium, 1680 Madison Ave., Wooster. www.buckeyebookfair.com. (This was mistakenly listed in last Saturday’s Things To Do; an editor erred.)

Artwalk in downtown Akron

Take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and enjoy the Akron Artwalk from 5-10 p.m. at galleries, restaurants and other venues around downtown and in the Northside area. (A trolley takes you from place to place if you don’t want to actually walk.) www.downtownakron.com/enjoy/artwalk.

Scott Hamilton in Cleveland

Figure skater and commentator Scott Hamilton has been passionate about raising money and awareness for cancer research. He survived testicular cancer and was recently diagnosed with a benign brain tumor for the third time. An Evening with Scott Hamilton and Friends, at 5 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena, will benefit the Cleveland Clinic’s Taussig Cancer Institute. (This year’s highest-profile friend is singer Michael McDonald.) Tickets are $32.50-$65 at 888-894-9424 or www.theqarena.com.
