Coco Crisp doubled to lead off the third and scored on a single by Carlos Santana off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks and the Indians and Cubs are tied 1-1 in the fourth inning of Game 7 of the World Series on Wednesday night at Progressive Field.
Crisp went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Roberto Perez before Santana singled to right.
Dexter Fowler hit a leadoff home run to center field off Indians starter Corey Kluber in the first inning to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead.
Kluber gave up an infield single to Kyle Schwarber and then retired the next eight Cubs hitters.
Hendricks pitched around an error on second baseman Javier Baez in a scoreless first.
The Indians got two hits to start the second inning but Jose Ramirez was picked off first and Lonnie Chisenhall was erased when Rajai Davis grounded into an inning-ending double play.
Kluber retired the first two batters in the third before Schwarber ripped a single into the right-field corner but Chisenhall made a strong throw and shortstop Francisco Lindor tagged Schwarber out trying for a double.
The series is tied 3-3 and the Indians and Cubs are both one win away from ending long droughts. The Indians haven’t won the World Series since 1948 and the Cubs last won it in 1908.
