The Federal Aviation Administration is holding three open-house workshops this week to educate the public about the $147.3 billion Next Generation Air Transportation System, an effort to modernize the agency through the use of satellite-based navigation.
The system, known as NextGen for short, is designed to make the airspace more efficient and help reduce delays. FAA representatives will discuss how NextGen will affect the Cleveland-Detroit region, which includes Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Akron-Canton Regional Airport, Akron Fulton International Airport, Kent State University Airport and Wayne County Airport.
Tuesday: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Gunning Recreation Center, 16700 Puritas Ave., Cleveland.
Wednesday: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Middleburg Heights Community Center, 18000 Bagley Road, Middleburg Heights.
Thursday: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Gemini Center,21225 Lorain Road, Fairview Park.
