The National Storm Prediction Center has put the Akron area in the slight risk for severe storms on Saturday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says a “strong cold front” will make its way across Northeast Ohio sparking potentially severe storms across a wide swath of the state from Mansfield through Akron through Cleveland.

The severe weather is expected after 4 p.m. into Saturday evening.

Forecasters say the greatest “threat” will be damaging winds and heavy rain with some flooding possible.

As much as nearly an inch of rain could fall on spots where the storms persist.

The high on Saturday will be near 90.

The forecast for Sunday is sunny skies with a high in the mid 70s.

Temperatures are expected to climb back into the 80s to start off the week before cooling back to 70s by Wednesday.
