Two men died Sunday in an apparent murder-suicide in Twinsburg that involved a four-hour SWAT standoff.
Twinsburg police have identified the apparent murder victim as Jerry Robinson,57, of Northfield. The suspected shooter, according to police, was Robert Waltzer, 58, of Twinsburg.
Police said Twinsburg dispatch received at least two calls of gunshots and a man down in front of his truck in the 9600 block of East Idlewood Drive in Twinsburg at 5:51 p.m. Sunday.
Officers responded and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen. He was transported to the Cleveland Clinic where he was pronounced dead at about 6:50 p.m.
The suspect re-entered his home on Idlewood Drive and did not respond to repeated attempts by Twinsburg police and Summit Metro SWAT to talk, police said. After approximately four hours, authorities deployed gas to the residence. SWAT made entry into the residence and found the suspect, who was dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Twinsburg detectives and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating.
