Browns coach Hue Jackson said he expected the team to be active on the waiver wire after cutdown day, and he wasn't kidding.
The Browns claimed five players off waivers Sunday, according to transactions posted by the NFL. They led the league in players claimed, followed by the New York Jets with four.
Here are the Browns' newest additions:
*Former San Francisco 49ers outside linebacker Corey Lemonier
*Former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Marcus Burley
*Former Oakland Raiders running back George Atkinson
*Former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Briean Boddy-Calhoun
*Former Jaguars defensive end Tyrone Holmes
The Browns have yet to announce any corresponding roster moves.
Meanwhile, two players the Browns waived Saturday have been claimed by other teams. Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel landed with the Atlanta Falcons and defensive back Pierre Desir with the San Diego Chargers.
Tight end Connor Hamlett will sign to the Browns' 10-man practice squad after being waived by the team Saturday, a source said.
Running back Rajion Neal (quadriceps) reverted to the Browns' injured reserve after they waived/injured him and he went unclaimed.
