With one day to go, August 2016 stands as the hottest August in more than 130 years of records, according to National Weather Service statistics from the Akron-Canton Airport.

While there were no daily records broken during the month, the average temperature as of Tuesday stood at 76.8, far above the daily average of 70.5 and exceeded the all-time high of 76.2. The average is calculated from the day’s high and low temperatures.

The high on Wednesday is expected to be about 80, slightly cooler than recent days, but not cool enough to significantly reduce the monthly number.

The airport now will have two recent August records in the top 10 hottest. Six years ago, 2010 posted the eighth-hottest August.
