Akron Arts Expo roars back to Hardesty Park
The popular Akron Arts Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Hardesty Park, 1615 W. Market St., with more than 160 artists, food, interactive children’s area and entertainment. Free admission and parking, either on the grounds or at Firestone High School, 333 Rampart Ave. (shuttle available from Firestone). www.akronartsexpo.org.
Get up early and do some good
• A trash cleanup of the Ohio & Erie Canal along the Towpath Trail runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Meet at the Mustill Store at 248 Ferndale St. in Akron. Lunch and equipment such as gloves and trash bags will be provided. 330-374-5657.
• The Akron Race for the Cure on behalf of Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio takes place Saturday morning at Canal Park on South Main Street. Registration begins at 6 a.m., with the always inspiring Survivor Ceremony at 8 and the 5K race and 1-mile walk at 9. Even if you can’t run, come out and cheer. http://komenneohio.org.
Authors expo at Holiday Inn
The Ohio Readers & Writers Expo runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Akron-West, 4073 Medina Road, Bath Township. Bigfoot, beasts to invade library
“Search For the Truth: An Afternoon of Cryptozoology” takes over the auditorium at the Akron-Summit County Public Library in downtown Akron. At 1 p.m., Doug Waller from the SouthEastern Society for Bigfoot Investigation will speak about Bigfoot sightings in Ohio, and Seth Breedlove will screen his documentary The Beast of Whitehall about sightings of an unexplained creature in upstate New York, at 2 p.m. followed by a Q&A. 330-643-9075 or stdiv@akronlibrary.org.
