Two guitars signed by members of the quintessential southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd brought in $20,000 for charities during a private concert hosted by Ohio Republicans.
The guitars were auctioned outside Jacobs Pavilion Sunday night during the invitation-only show hosted by House Speaker Cliff Rosenberger and attended by Ohio delegates and their guests.
The guitars were donated by Blue Star Productions LLC., which hosted the kick-off concert and will hold another featuring Kid Rock at the end of the four-day convention.
Proceeds from the auctioned memorabilia and the events will benefit five charities: The Folded Flag, which provides educational scholarships to families of fallen soldiers; Guardians for Heroes Foundation, which supports the transition home for veterans and life for Gold Star families; The Green Beret Foundation, which connects the battle-worn Army special forces with resources; SRT K9 Unit, which benefits body-detecting dogs and their handlers; and the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation, which collects funds to build a memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC, to honor America’s fallen heroes.
