CHARDON, OHIO: The gunman in a murder-for-hire plot that resulted in an innocent man being killed in northeast Ohio has been found guilty of murder and kidnapping charges while a woman accused of helping him has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
They were among five people charged criminally for their involvement in the fatal shooting of 31-year-old Daniel Ott at his home in Burton Township in 2006. Authorities say 46-year-old Chad South went to the wrong house where he killed the wrong Daniel Ott. A Geauga County judge convicted South of murder and kidnapping charges last week.
Thirty-seven-year-old Mindie Stanifer pleaded guilty Monday in a Geauga County court to involuntary manslaughter and kidnapping. Authorities say she accompanied South to Ott’s home.
Stanifer’s and South’s attorneys didn’t immediately return calls seeking comment Tu
